Southern Standard Construction Brand Identity & Logo Design
A patriotic visual identity anchored by a stylized eagle - embodying vision, leadership, and disciplined craftsmanship for a general contracting firm building noteworthy structures across Massachusetts.
The Company
Southern Standard Construction is a general contracting firm in Wilmington, Massachusetts, dedicated to building noteworthy structures and lasting relationships. Their day-to-day work runs through this case study’s photography: site managers supervising heavy machinery at golden hour, plans worked through on tablets, and the team at trade show booths. They wanted a brand that felt approachable yet deeply professional, one that holds up in all of those settings.
The Design
I centred the visual identity on a stylised Eagle Icon that represents more than freedom and patriotism: it embodies vision, leadership, and elevation, qualities essential to a general contractor overseeing complex commercial projects. Its structured, symmetrical wings echo architectural lines and framing, reflecting precision, balance, and disciplined craftsmanship.
The grounded body form suggests a strong foundation, symbolising the company’s role as the structural backbone behind every project. I drew the mark in bold, simplified shapes so it stays legible at small sizes, whether embroidered on a uniform or printed on an event coaster. It follows the same principles I cover in what makes a good logo: a distinctive silhouette, restrained colour, and a form that survives every application.
The palette pairs the gold eagle with navy typography. Navy conveys trust and professionalism, while gold represents excellence and high standards. Together, they position Southern Standard as a reliable, premium partner for complex commercial construction.
The Result
The eagle mark now lives on hard hats, truck wraps, trade show booths, and branded merchandise worn proudly by the Southern Standard team. The gallery below shows the spread: black tumblers carrying the gold eagle, employee uniforms, event coasters, and branded signage on the company’s trade show stand. I designed the logo to hold its detail when embroidered on work apparel and stamped onto metal signage at job sites. The identity helped the company win contracts by projecting the kind of established, trustworthy presence that property developers look for when selecting a general contractor.
